My knowing that we all play a role in the Greater Pattern comes from the writings of Joan Grant, who is the author of seven historical novels based on her ‘far memory’ of lives she lived prior to her incarnation from 1907 to 1989.
I have read Grant’s novels a number of times and recommend them highly. They describe human beings, communities and societies that resonate deeply because of their joy in living and commitment to taking responsibility for oneself and how one behaves in relation to others, particularly the true actions of a leader.
A collection of her writings and speeches was published as Speaking from the Heart. In it, I read a sentence about being part of a greater pattern and knew it was an important concept of Something Greater to which many of us could connect
Grant was writing of someone who was shirking his responsibility to care for his body, his spirit and other Life. About how he was giving up the opportunity to participate actively in the role he had accepted when incarnating in this moment of time to add to the Greater Pattern. She often talks about the evolving human, which is one way we can be of use and have meaning in this life we have.
There is so much talk of automating human activity and developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) that can do everything a human can do. People get so excited about the machines. Yet, we have so much unexplored human potential with huge quantities of creativity and love available to engage in all aspects of existence. Tech serves a purpose as a tool, not a replacement and certainly not as any enhancement.
Like all true concepts of Something Greater than ourselves, knowing I am a responsible participant in the Greater Pattern instills a feeling of belonging while also evoking a yearning to engage. It feels right even when I do not always understand how I am currently participating and how I should act to be a more powerful, positive contributor.
Many of us search to belong and feel a connection to something – I name it as Something Greater than myself and this material time and place. We yearn. Can we find peace in first accepting that there is something? The IS as Richard Bach called it. Then accept that our human minds cannot grasp all of it, but our spirits can catch and hold glimpses of it to such an extent that we soar with joy and love knowing – really knowing in the deepest part of who each are – that we are part of this glory.
Accept we belong and have a role to play that is useful and meaningful. Perhaps we feel quite small, but added together, our actions and those of all others move the Universe. Our society is so very enamored of media-glorified individuals, that many of us, particularly teenagers and young people, feel hopeless when they cannot achieve heights in accepted areas. We must look within to explore who we each are, the talents we each possess, and the vision pulling us forward specifically. Not some external and often extremely shallow role model.
When I feel this vast living potentiality as a Greater Pattern of cosmic evolution, I sometimes think of the atheist scientist who disdains organized religion so strongly, who I mentioned in my post of June 16, 2023. What is his search for science to answer all questions of existence but an abiding belief in a Greater Pattern that science will one day discern?
Just because we might finally understand more of the Pattern, does that make the Pattern any less of an energetic force? Does material understanding of its workings negate the role we each play with our actions, words, thoughts and most powerfully, our feelings? What is the sad state of our thinking that it must be one discipline or belief system or another? When one truly grasps the glory and expanse of a true Something Greater, its capacity to include all is clear.
Sensing a Greater Pattern helps me feel connected and useful. I can add my best to the forward movement. I can trust that the physical, emotional and psychic damage and destruction to our people, communities and natural world are aberrations that can be transformed. We have allowed a negative, self-hating group think to dominate our thoughts and words. My job is to rise above and speak the possibility and potential for myself and others.
We can take very specific actions every moment of every day. For example, I am practicing better language by removing curses and insults from my language. It took some time but I noticed just today that annoying and inconvenient mishaps were responded to with a level voice and the words, “Oh, sugar!” You can just guess what they used to be. I feel better – more who I really am. And I didn’t put that shadow energy out into the Pattern.
We are so important; so needed now to stretch and reach for our highest potential is all areas of our lives. To open our hearts and minds to goodness and kindness. Think about adding that to the Greater Pattern in addition to the unique role you have agreed to play in this time and place. Thank you so very much for being here and accepting a positive role in the Greater Pattern.
